“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Hebrews 10 v 23-24 (NIV 1984)
“Let us…..” Two very simple words of encouragement.
We see them on a number of occasions in Scripture, particularly in the letter to the Hebrews:
10 v 22 “Let us draw near to God…”
10 v 23 “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess…”
10 v 24 “Let us consider how we may spur one another on towards love and good deeds
12 v 1 “Let us throw off everything that hinders…”
12 v 2 “Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes upon Jesus…”
13 v15 “Let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise…”
In these days of increased secularization Christians need to encourage each other in our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ more and more; so let us do that in the Police by praying frequently and regularly for the members and to also take opportunities to meet from time to time, exchanging news, discussing problems and helping out if at all practicable.
The shepherds heard the message of the angels and said to one another “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see….” (Luke 2 v 15) and John said “Dear friends, let us love one another…” (1 John 4 v 7).
These two verses sum up the Christian life as one of worship and service. So, let us encourage each other as much as we can.
- Pray that this week God will give you the opportunity to encourage someone in their walk with Christ, and to share the gospel.
